It's a rather peaceful island when you get down to it. It's warm and temperate, the water clear and perfect, and the air is humid and accompanied by a soft breeze. Comfortable weather in every possible way.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The beach is your metaphorical oyster (or possibly literal one, depending on what you find) and it doesn’t seem as though the Chiefs are happy until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
After all, there's nothing wrong with the beach today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.
This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Profiles and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to tikirobo.
[ So hey, you can find Vriska chilling near the huts, usually in the early morning or late evening. She doesn't seem to be around too much in the middle of the day...
By the way, in case anyone wasn't clear, she's running around in these comfy orange pajamas, albeit with the hood off, no boots, and her pant legs rolled up, all to accommodate that humid island heat. It is pretty much impossible not to notice her.
So what's she up to today, anyway? It turns out she's got that shitty little house-shaped thing she mentioned at the trial in her hands! Her version doesn't glow. It's just kind of a dull off-white and it doesn't do anything. What a piece of shit.
Catch her eye and Vriska will smirk and say: ]
Think I should throw it in the ocean? I am strongly considering throwing it in the ocean.
[ TUESDAY ]
[ Hey, it's sunset! Most people would probably be starting to wind down for the day, but Vriska seems to just be getting started. She's sitting on the beach with one (1) sharp rock off to one side, one (1) pile of vines obviously foraged from the edges of the jungle, and one (1) ball of twine. With this whole mess of stuff, she is making a few things! Spread out on the sand is the beginnings of a fishing net, and beside it, she's got one or two tied up coils of vine that at first blush might look vaguely like nooses. Uh oh. Look closer, though, and it'll turn out they're something else... what are these, though?
Better be wary of stepping too close, though. Vriska is skittering this way and that as she works on the net, and if you get close enough she'll sort of growl at you? trolls actually growl, so that's a real thing. ]
You better not fuck up my work! This has taken me waaaaaaaay too much time for some chucklefuck to mess it up!
[ WEDNESDAY ]
[ Today Vriska is up at the oasis. The weird part is that it's not far past high noon. What's she doing out and about this time of day? Well, apparently what she's doing is sitting on the damp rocks close to the water's edge and letting her skinny stick legs dangle in the cool water of the pool. She doesn't seem to bothered that body parts were found here last Friday.
She is definitely carefully tucked away beneath the shade of some dense foliage, so you might not notice her at first, or perhaps mistake her for colorful jungle flora. But if you wander close enough she'll flag you down with a toothy grin. ]
He~y, don't worry. You can always count on me to encourage people to make questionably reasonable choices! I may be unpredictable, but that side of me is a constant.
[ Vriska will lead them down to the water's edge. It's sunset! It's beautiful! She hates it. ]
Haha. You really love that whole wacky, questionably random persona you've got going, don't you? I mean, I guess I can't judge. I have my whole bluh bluh huge bitch act to stick to! It is just sort of funny watching you try so hard.
[ Just shy of where the water laps at the sand, Vriska plops her butt down. ]
Here, you wanna try it? [ holds the. house thing. out. ] Bet you anything it will somehow come back. My luck has become so terrible if would be hilarious if it was happening to anyone else ever since I got here!
That's pretty much the size of it! I have always had really shitty luck. For a while my fortunes were changing, but now I've been booted straight back to loserville. Pretty big comedown, if I'm honest.
[Newt did indeed miss Vriska at first, so he starts a little when she speaks up. He gives her a smile when he realizes it's her, though, and he heads over to sit cross-legged next to her.]
[ Doggy paddles back over to the side and pulls herself up onto the rocks, streaming water and looking like a pissed off wet cat.
But she will offer him a crooked grin as she starts to wring her hair out. ]
Oh, sure, I really accomplished something today! Making myself soaking wet and freezing is definitely my greatest achievement. I'd better have someone make a medal to commemorate this moment forever!
Again, freezing isn't so bad. You'll warm up in a minute or two, anyway. Here. [He reaches over to rub his hands up and down her arms really fast like he's drying off a kid. Which is basically what he's doing. There you go, Vriska, now you're warm.]
I'll get right on the medal detail. Would you prefer a seashell or a particularly shiny rock?
he might notice, thanks to doing that, that her body temperature seems to run strangely low. she is more or less cool to the touch. maybe it's just from the cold of the water? that's probably it.
Vriska will flick her fingers in his direction, flinging droplets of water right in his face. ]
Who asked for your help!
[ But she's still grinning, so he's probably safe. ]
And it better be the shiniest fucking rock you can find! I expect only the best when I am awarded with a medal for idiot achievements.
[He will indeed notice, and is definitely gonna ask about that later. For now, he's sputtering as she flicks water at him.]
Wow, my bad for trying to be a good samaritan. Jeez. [He pulls off his glasses to wipe them on his shirt.]
Holding your own in the water is hardly an idiot achievement. That's better than some people here, and we've got a lot of water to contend with. Better safe than sorry.
[ Jinah actually has one leg purposefully edged forward, toe about to make contact with whatever contraption Vriska has created when she gets yelled at.
She frowns a little at her language. ]
Whatcha' making?
[ Though she chooses to ignore it for the time being, curiosity winning out over manners yet again. ]
Jinaaaaaaaah. [ with an air of sharp complaint. but then vriska heaves a sigh and just kind of. lets her do it. whatever. she can fix it if jinah fucks it up, probably. ]
I am sitting on my ass enjoying all this great sunshine! What does it look like I'm doing?
[ She hesitates for a moment, looks kind of like a cat who can't decide if they want to stay inside or go outside. In the end, she withdraws her foot before it makes contact with whatever it is Vriska has created. ]
I don't know! That's why I asked. Are you trying to.. fish?
[ She wouldn't know anything about that though, she's mostly been mooching off everyone else on the food front. ]
It's kind of late in the day to be catching dinner.

Can you swim?

Yep.
Free yourself from its worldly clutches. Cast away the failure and be born anew!

I knew you'd support my ambitions, Maggot! Come on.
[ Vriska will get to her feet and gesture, her grin toothy. ]
It's not like I need this garbage anyway.

E-rank luck, huh? You don't happen to be affected by an ailment known as the Reaper's Curse, are you?
[nevertheless! she reaches out to take the weird house. . . thing?]
no subject
At least she seems unfazed that Magilou is unfazed...?? So go ahead and take the house-shaped piece of shit, Maggie. ]
Reaper's Curse? Uh, no. What the hell is the Reaper's Curse?
no subject
It's basically the equivalent of someone haveing E-rank luck. If you have the Reaper's Curse, you can kiss your future as a gambling addict good-bye.

[ Vriska will give the water a challenging look, like it's trying to fight her. ]
I actually can't remember the last time I even tried.

Why not!
[ And she just. She gets to her feet and straight up leaps into the pool.
She'll resurface moments later, her black hair floating in a dense tangle around her, gasping and cursing. ]
Fuck, it's freezing! What the fuck! This was the worst idea!
[ but hey, she's treading water, so. you know, that's going fine? ]
no subject
He laughs when she hits the water.] Hey, cold is good. It's hot enough out here. Anyway, look, you're swimming.
[He points at her whole "not sinking" situation.]
Well, you're staying afloat, at least.

I'm not trying to fish, dummy, I'm making a net for fishing that everyone will get to use when it's done which will probably be tomorrow anyway!

That's.. I didn't expect you to go out of your way to help everyone else.
[ Oh, but she doesn't want to be discouraging. So she perks up immediately. ]
That's really smart! I know the others will be really gratefu.
