The beach is quiet, eerily so. All animals, all insect noise, all gusts of wind have come to a complete stop this morning. The only sound is that of the ocean, but even that seems muted. Everything is hushed and as the doors of the huts opens, the only sensation that rings utterly true today is this: One of your own is gone. And now, as the rules state, it is your job to discover their fate. Welcome to the investigation post! If your character decides to search an area, please post the name of the location in your header and wait for the mod replies. Anything to discover or not to will be indicated during the course of the thread. After the body is discovered, an announcement will be made and characters are free to spend the rest of the afternoons how they like. [ Mera is here to help, but, well. She's going to respond to that comment pretty snappishly as they head into the jungle. ]

anyway to get straight to the point, they're only going to see a bit of difference in things when they take the path closer to the oasis. that's when they might spot a few snapped twigs and other debris. ]

anyways, he looks at mera and raises a brow for a moment. ]

Seems like I'm correct, given those twigs.

[ he'll follow along the path. what's good, anything else? ]

And? Being right doesn't mean you should treat this with any less respect.

[ what a jerk!! But she'll also follow and look around, generally just kind of in the opposite direction so that they can cover more ground. ]

[ mera, you have good instincts but alas, you will find not much of anything.

jacopo on the other hand, will see that a lot of the ruffling kind of centers around a tree and on that tree will be three marks drawn on the bark. weird. ]

[ maybe death would be easier for u to deal with if you just viewed people as less than human mera!! the three marks are noted rather quickly, however. ]

Oi. Look at this.

[ he drags his fingers across the marks. ]

Someone was either attempting to keep track of something or these are signs of struggle. The precision makes it more likely to be the former.

[ Mera approaches to take a closer look, but she won't give her own assessment until she's done that, so. Tell us, magical game master, what kind of marks are we talking here? Are they deep or shallow, and are the cuts rough or fairly clean? ]

[ they're fairly clean! they're just sort of... etched into the wood? they're a little subtle, as if to keep out of sight unless you're really looking for them but other than that... well, i guess you could say they're some kind of landmark or signal. something like that.

but at the very least, that seems to be it. they both can probably notice lucina, bellamy, and katara find the coconut from here too. it's all pretty close together! ]

[ jacopo looks on over, glancing at the other three from afar. ]

Die Day sure is an adventure.

Your thoughts on the marks?

They at least look intentional. I'm fairly certain it's not from a misplaced strike or something along those lines.

[ She would say a trail marker but that makes no sense when she lives in the ocean?? i hate this ]

[ it's fine he (MORE LIKE ME I HAVE NO BRAIN) just got it. ]

Crushed twigs and purposeful scratches. A trail marker. Huh.

[ then, suddenly. ]

...Do they expect us to take this piece of bark back.

[ She squints, looking at the bark, but shakes her head. ]

We could, but it seems like more trouble than it's worth. It's more easy to describe it or draw the markings in the sand. Actually having it wouldn't seem to add any value.
