[ WEEK FIVE – TRIAL ]

TRIAL

In the morning, the beach comes back to life. Birds are back to cawing, the fish splash in the ocean, and insects buzz cheerfully from the jungle. Crabs skitter across the sand and seagulls fight over food (possibly yours). It's a frightening contrast to the stillness of yesterday but it doesn't mean it's over yet. After all, today is the trial. The Chief stands at the front of the longhouse and brings his hand up to his mouth to let out a whistle. He'll thumb back to the hut-like building behind him and very clearly state -- "Trial time, everyone. Get in here and figure out who did it." And then he'll turn to head in. The other Chief helpfully pipes up with a, "Make sure to bring a snack, and maybe some water. Hydration is key to catching murderers!" The longhouse is set up like a meeting hall, with long benches on each wall, facing each other. There's a table at the front of the room already holding a small box and a pad of papers and pen, for voting apparently. Aside from that, the room is empty. It’s only when everyone has taken a seat that the doors close and the Chief speaks. "Well, have at it. You've got till nine." And then, he points to a clock on the wall that reads 12:00. Good luck. Welcome to the trial post! Characters are free to discuss everything related to the trial here. They won't be let out of the room until 9PM when voting ends. I don't like your attitude, y'know? You keep acting like if you're more aggressive with me, suddenly I'll do what you want. Ain't how it works. Stop bugging me or you're gonna get punished.

There are twelve of us left. We might all be dead by the end of the week. If you wanted to keep us scared, you shouldn't have mowed through three fourths of us in a month.

He's going to kick your ass, stupid, stop. Yelling at him won't get you anywhere. Go help the others if you want to be productive!

Help them do what? Vote again? Like that's gotten us anywhere the past four times?

You're going to have to. You really think the Chiefs are going to let people out of this room without voting? Help them figure out who the killers were last night and try to solve this game. That's your best bet for making progress right now.

[jettisons]

That isn't progress and you know it.

[ Sits forward, frowning at him severely. ]

I know you're frustrated because you got so close. But raging pointlessly won't help anyone and would just get you killed! You have the tools to help the others. Point them in the right direction!

[jettisons]

We both know what the right direction is.

[And he can't do anything about it and he wants to punch a wall?]

[ With a sigh Vriska gets to her feet, goes over to Bellamy, drags him over to Cream Soda, and promptly does her best to force him to sit down. ]

If you're not going to help them, you're going to chill out with me! How's that sound, doofus?

[ Although not pleased by Hal's attitude either, she reaches for Bell's sleeve.

It does not need to be random. I am willing to be voted for, if we do not have anyone else.

Not entirely. But I imagine for you, anger right now is the easiest emotion to handle. Do not embrace it.

[Making Lucina sad and worried is about the only thing that can get him to dial this back at this point, even if he's still pissed.]

[ With her good hand - her remaining hand - she gestures to the twelve (or so) people left standing. ]

We need to be united, or... close to.
